Top Ten Reasons Why You Can't Make Fun of Me for Liking Lord of the Rings
1. Everybody (who has taken the time to watch the films) has a favourite scene. Whether its any of the battle scenes or a scene with Gollum, everybody can't wait to see that one scene. Myself, I have many scenes that I consider my favourite. The Top 3 include, Helm's Deep Battle, The story of how Gollum came to be and Frodo's Chapped Lips
2. Michel Therriault (only the sexiest brodway actor ever) played Gollum in Lord of the Rings: The Musical. That obviously means that he liked the books or the movies, therefore if he likes Lord of the Rings you should too.
3. Its Elijah Wood! I mean c'mon, we've all seen Elijah grow up. We saw him as a little tyke in Flipper, Forever Young and North and then we saw him through his awkward teenage years in movies like Deep Impact and The Faculty and now we see him as a young adult in this epic. I mean who doesn't have a little love for Elijah Wood in them.
4.Peter Jackson is from New Zealand. That makes him and his movies cool. If you come from a foreign land where your main exports are sheep then you are just cool. Now Peter Jackson has become Hollywoodized so we don't love him as much but before he was a foreigner, how cool it that? If you're nice to him, he'll probably give you a sheep. Haven't you always wanted a sheep?
5. Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn is a sex symbol. Who hasn't had a fantasy about Aragorn? No one can fully say that they haven't thought about whats underneath all that armor.
6. Nerds are cool. Pretty much only nerds truly love Lord of the Rings and nerds will be rich some day. Just think when they sell all of their Lord of the Rings paraphernalia, they will be billionaires, because of course the Bilbo action figure will be in its original wrapping. So if your are nice to nerds and show an interest in their interest such as Lord of the Rings, you are probably going to get a million dollars.
7. Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan are cool. See. I don't even have to say anything else on this one.
8. It's the new Star Wars. (I don't mean that it's the new Star Wars, I mean, it is like the Old Star Wars except its newer. It appeals to a different audience but on the same level as people who love Star Wars.)
9. They turned into a musical. This isn't the strongest argument because Lord of the Rings: The Musical failed in Toronto but it was a good attempt. You have to appreciate the attempt.
10. Finally, it is the original Brokeback Mountain. Look at the Sam and Frodo story, don't you realize that's where Ang Lee got the idea from. Brokeback Mountain and Mount Doom, you see the similarities? The tears, the love, its obviously the first huge homosexual love story. "I'll cary you" and "I wish I could quit you". They both have something plaguing them, one may be a jewelry and they other is the fact that he is gay, but I mean Queer Eye for the Straight Guy couldn't do much better than that. So if you like Brokeback Mountain than you've got to love Lord of the Rings.
So that is why you are not allowed to make fun of me for liking Lord of the Rings.
